JHN: Joliet OKs new NorthPoint plan

The Joliet City Council voted 6-2 for NorthPoint Development’s latest plan on Tuesday, again after lengthy comments from opponents to the project.

The approved plan was an expanded from what the council approved a year ago to 2,300 acres. It does not includes a proposal for a bridge near Breen Road. NorthPoint has yet to begin construction and has been fighting litigation aimed at blocking the project…. read more →

The Joliet City Council vote on NorthPoint will proceed on Tuesday after a judge denied opponents’ attempts to delay the public hearing on the project.

Stop NorthPoint Asks Court to Uphold Governor’s Order

Stop NorthPoint LLC is asking the court for a temporary restraining order to prevent Mayor Bob O’Dekirk and the City of Joliet from forcing the NorthPoint project through the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals during the height of the pandemic.

“The public hearings set for December 3rd, 10th, and 15th, 2020 violate state law and will endanger the health and safety of the named Plaintiffs and the general public,” according to the complaint filed Monday in Will County court…. read more →

Stop NorthPoint Intends to File TRO, Amended Complaint

Attorneys for Stop NorthPoint LLC announced in court today the group’s intent to seek a temporary restraining order in an effort to prevent the City of Joliet from moving forward with the NorthPoint annexation hearings.

“We are trying to enjoin any hearings or meetings from occurring on December 3 or December 10,” said Richard Linden, of Linden & Bustamante, one of Stop NorthPoint LLC’s attorneys, which also include Bob Fioretti and Peter Bustamante.

This delay does not change Stop NorthPoint’s primary goal of seeking a permanent halt to the project.
